FASHION INSPIRATION: ICONS RIHANNA, NAOMI CAMPBELL AND IMAN WOW IN BALMAIN FOR W MAGAZINE!!

If you know me, then you know that this right here… is a really BIG DEAL! I am all about diversity in the industry and recently read a shaking article explaining that Vogue magazine has not had a Black Model on their cover in… *wait for it*… 10 years!!!!
So back to the topic!! Supermodels Iman 59, Naomi Campbell 44 and Singer Rihanna 26 posed in Balmain designed by the ‘oh-so fab genius’ Oliver Rousteing. The trio came together for a story celebrating fashion brand Balmain’s 28-year-old creative director (which is Olivier Rousteing for those who didn’t know), who says the three embody his style.
‘These women are inspiring to so many different people..’
‘Bringing them together represents the concept I’m working toward.’
Recently Oliver Rousteing fought back against diversity barriers using diverse models in his Resort 2015 Lookbook and now we get to see him use three of the most beautiful black women in the world who are indisputably giving us LIIIIIFE in this high fashion editorial spread for W Magazine!
Kudos to W Magazine for having Rihanna as the Cover star and publishing such a beautiful editorial without labelling or segregating it into a ‘black’ themed issue and/or spread. Also, I must say Kudos to Oliver again for being brave enough to shake it up & show his vision for a high-end brand using only what he wants; black models.
Even though the price point for Balmain is, how do i say?.. Sliiiiiiiiiiightly out of reach for me (for now that is!). Oliver makes the brand relatable to young customers, and very much-so appealing to me (as a customer) who is looking for fresh, high-end, well-tailored, intricate, diva-ish clothes with a splash of ‘ratchet’ (yes I said it… do you seeeee the jewellery & earrings he uses?) clothing and accessories which is wearable!
It makes me truly happy to see black beauty highlighted in fashion. I’m not one for segregation, I just appreciate the acknowledgement that beauty comes in all colours and shapes. So whoever’s idea this was… is a genius!! !
*side note*
… Am I the only one who wants to start crediting Rihanna as an up-and-coming Model??!! SOMEONE SIGN HER ALLLLREADY!! I also reckon that after Rihanna decided to boycott Instagram when they suspended her account and deleted her Nude pics from Lui Magazine. Actually hearing about what she’s been up to and what she is wearing bla.. bla.. bla.. has been a definite struggle, FOR ME!! Her ‘relevance’ has began to sadly decline for me which is sad… she is one of my top style Icons. But maybe this shoot is a Game changer.?. (come back o insta Rihanna)!!

With a Dash of Leather and a layer of denim infused with modern grunge… out popped an amazing editorial shoot for Status Magazine with Actor Jamie Blackley who is well-known for his roles in Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), U Want Me 2 Kill Him? (2013) , London Boulevard (2010), The Fifth Estate (2013) and Misfits (TV Series) alongside a list of other Tv series and Movies!
Bio:
Born July 8, 1991 on the Isle of Man, Blackley has recently featured in Snow White and the Huntsmen, starring Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, and also While We Were Here, starring Kate Bosworth and Claire Bloom. This year the young actor can be seen in the biopic, Vinyl, starring Keith Allen and Phil Daniels, and also We Are The Freaks, written and directed by Justin Edgar. Jamie Blackley has also previously appeared in London Boulevard opposite Keira Knightley, Colin Farrell and Ray Winstone. He’ll be Adam in the If I Stay Movie !

Bravo.. and thank you to Oliver Rousteing at Balmain for creating yet another amazing collection!! Anyone that knows me, knows not only am i besotted with anything that Oliver creates BUT! how I love to see diversity in fashion. A little of everything never hurt anybody I say. I give the ultimate Kudos to Balmain for kicking through that barrier of model diversity and using a selection of models of different races for his campaigns, fashion shows, exhibitions and This Resort 2015 Lookbook!!
Above is Look ’32’ one of my many favourite looks from the collection! This Collection was sewn together taking inspiration from Navajo blanket patterns and his colour palette was drawn from David Hockney’s paintings of Los Angeles!
This collection is full of structure, colour, ‘new mexico’ inspired ponchos and bold knits, flares pants, draping, cheeky midriff’s and signature yet more subtle embellishment. I am in love with the masculine jewellery used to accessorise and pull together looks! *swoon*… Can I just have it all?

Anyone That knows me, knows i am COMPLETELY obsessed with Instyle Magazine. Not only does it keep you up to date with whats on trend, or give you exclusive behind the scenes images/ info during important fashion events. You get your own lil’ dose of personal styling throughout its pages. BUT the most important thing for me is that the fashion is always accessible to the reader (unlike many other magazines). Instyle reflects my vision of the fashion world, their articles and interviews are uniquely written to not only inform you on the writers experience.. but to also ‘include’ and draw you into the experience, as if you are in the room… read it… trust me!! *nods* In Fact. A lot of time I actually keep a notepad with me when reading my Instyle Magazine #confessiontime. I always feel like I ‘m learning something new and without a doubt I see a list of items that I just have to go out and buy!

It was actually love at first sight… and at 6.99 GBP you really can’t go wrong with these beaut’s! I mean summer time means ‘Sun Time’. I love the decorative detail and the width of them! when I tried them on I was like “YES they fit my head!!” and best of all they look expensive without actually leaving a burn hole in the pocket of your skinny jeans.

Nail varnish by Chanel –
Pigment-Pigment-SHINE! Lol… I know that was corny. But This Chanel ‘Dragon’ Nail varnish is one of my Staple reds i pull out of my nail kit. You get a really good wear out of the nail colour, there is a good consistency on application (not too thin or thick) with a great shine and the colour literally goes with everything!!
Lipstick (Rouge Coco Shine) by Chanel –
When the heat is on, I tend to opt for a lipgloss or a lipstick with moisture so that I can maintain my ‘Daily face’ throughout the day.
Again, this product speaks for itself. This is in shade ’54’ called ‘Boy’ which gives a soft pink with a slight rose gold/nude shimmer to it. It looks so natural…. nothing over the top! Try it yourself!!
‘Limited Edition’ Tinted Lip Balm by Vaseline
‘Paint the town’ was released by vaseline a few months ago and I LOVE this product! Moisture and subtle colour is always something great to perk up a look on the go! Out for lunch? Dinner? On a safari? *random* Or even in the pool?.. its easy to re-apply this lip balm. Plus its compact size is easy to slip in your pocket, wallet or my often go-to… the bra #dontjudgeme

Lucky Little Blighters is one of the Hottest jewellery Brands which has been featured in magazines and red carpets worldwide! I was chuffed when I got my hands on a ring from the designer. And although mine is more intricate and a larger size (because I’m a bit extra) They also offer the most amazing stacking rings and stacking necklaces, crowns… you name it! perfect for festivals and to rock out anyhow, completing any look #TBH

This was an early Birthday present from one of my mates Flavia #shoutout *waves frantically*. This shoe designer holds some of the hottest heels in the UK… TRUST! I am so happy I got a pair of these in Orange. They come in a few other statement colours, they feel comfortable and have that great smell (if your shoe obsessed you know what I mean when you pull a pair of shoes out the box) #notsorry

Necklace (solid) by Primark –
I have used this necklace on photoshoots as well as worn it many times myself! It’s a simplistically, yet amazing Staple necklace which can bend to adjust to the neckline of what you are wearing. It was really cheap and looks amazing when layered up with other necklaces.

I feel really lucky getting my hands on this! I found it in the Sale in Zara for 10 GBP! What you see is what you get.. a staple collar necklace can really pull in any look and this one has such a cute gold disc detail. Gives it a lil ‘hip hop’ chic look!

Hand Cream by Lancome –
I have a few Lancome products but I love this ‘Nutrix Royal – Mains’ Intense cream. As soon as you put it on you can see a difference in dry skin, it really moisturises but not leaving that greasy residue! Upon use, you are then hit with a very light spring/summer floral scent, which (based my personal taste) is a bonus!
Watch by Nixon –
I love Nixon time-pieces and have been using them for my Fashion editorials for about a Year now! I really love their products. I find that watches tend to sit at one end of the spectrum, they are either really ‘classy’ and simple or they are full on ‘fashion forward’. I love that Nixon watches are really good quality and have a wide range of watches for male and female customers and even some great Unisex pieces! This watch is really good steardy stainless steel which was hardened in mineral crystal (snazzy I know right?) and whilst looking really masculine it has ‘rose gold’ incrusted crystals to soften it up!
Cuffs by H&M
These Beauts’ come in a pack of two which I bought from their Oxford Street Store! I love the fact I can bend these cuffs about and make them into some Rihanna Inspired ‘Arm Cuffs’. Again, these type of Staple bracelets help to pull together even the most simplest of outfits.. INVEST INVEST INVEST!!
Earphones by Molami
One of the most Fashion forward Earphones you may ever own are Molami!! I love the leather detail on the ear-piece of this product along with the fabric wire and Gold Accents! Surprisingly, I was worried this item would get really dirty but it has kept really well with the gold still as vibrant as ever after months of use and it comes with a carry case! The sound is amazing and blocks out everything else around, giving me solitude to really get into my music! *does Beyonce routine*
